An experienced guide will drive you by snowcat up the glacier. In good weather conditions you can enjoy a fantastic view over Hellissandur and Breida ordur Bay and on especially clear days you might even spot the far-o West ords. The famous novelist Jules Verne once chose Snaefellsjokull Glacier to be the entrance “to the center of the Earth”. BUS EXCURSION AROUND THE SNAEFELLSNES PENINSULA Tour Highlights: An introduction to the history and geology of Iceland, diverse landscapes and a visit to the shark museum Di culty level: This tour involves walking (approx. 45 min) on rugged terrain, but it’s also possible to stay on the coach Duration: 5-6 hours Due to its diversity of landscapes and places of national interest, the Snaefellsnes Peninsula is o en called “Iceland in miniature”. This excursion includes a drive through beautiful scenery, lava elds, black sand beaches and impressive glaciers. You will have a stunning view of Snaefellsjokull Glacier, and the dramatic rock formations of Snaefellsnes as well as the Londrangar rock pinnacles, which are remnants of a large volcanic crater. In the summer months (mid-April to mid-August) a huge variety of birds can be seen. En route you also visit the Shark Museum in Bjarnarhofn.
