This guided tour takes you through the old city center and includes a visit to the National Museum of Greenland which exhibits 500-year-old Inuit-mummies discovered in Qilakitsoq 40 years ago. Di culty Level: Easy Walking Notice: Dress according to local weather; entrance to the tannery included Duration: Approx. 1.5 hours The tannery of Qaqortoq is the only tannery in Greenland and was established in 1977. It is now subsidized by the government. All skins produced by the tannery originate from wild animals that have lived naturally in the Greenlandic nature. It only allows production of skins, from animals that have been caugt in accordance with the Greenlandic Inuit traditions and by Greenlandic Inuit hunters. They use di erent kind of skins for their clothing. You can nd seal, muskox, reindeer or even polar bear. Visit the beautiful show room to get some inspiration.
