Shore excursions

  • General Information Shore Excursions These are last year's excursions. Excursions for 2022 will be available at the beginning of 2022.
    • Quality of the bus

The busses in Greenland are operated on extreme driving and weather conditions and therefore heavily loaded and this can be seen at the outward appearance. Dust development in the busses while driving gravel tracks can’t be avoided. Toilets are not available on the busses. There are no typical coaches in Greenland, therefore school busses, city busses or offroad busses are used for our excursions. You can leave your backpacks or non-needed clothes on the bus - it will be locked at any stop.

    • Language

All shore excursions organized by us take place in English. Every now and then, however, it can happen that a bilingual excursion (in German & English language) takes place.

    • Itinerary

Strong winds, snow or even rain can affect the route of our excursions. The course of the tour and the planned stops are followed as far as possible due to weather and road conditions. We must reserve the right to make changes.

    • Zodiac transfer

It might happen that the OCEAN DIAMOND will not be at the pier but on anchorage. In those cases you will be shuttled ashore with our own zodiacs.

    • Flights and Boat Trips

The weather in Greenland is very unpredictable. Please note that flights and boats are particularly weather dependent on wind, ice and sea conditions. Cancellations are also frequent as the helicopter/plane/boat might be needed for other transportation reasons or for rescue and emergency, if those are the only ones available in this area. There is a risk that we have to move around the timetable or cancel all the planned tours if there are changes. Please note that during the excursions there won´t be detailed explanations as it are captains and pilots and non of our guides will be able to join. For flight bookings please identify your weight in the shore excursion booking form as the weight limit is 265 lbs per person. If you weigh more than 265 lbs and want to participate you need to buy two seats. Please write down your weight under remarks in the booking form.
